Several Dons compete at prestigious Arcadia Invite
Several members of the Dons track team traveled to Southern California to compete in the 43rd annual Arcadia Invitational track meet on Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10. The Arcadia High School Invitational is one of the best high school invitational track meets in the country. An amazing 24 national records have been set at Arcadia, and 125 future Olympians have competed at this prestigious event.
On Friday evening, Kellen Cole, Blane Infald, Theo Carter, and Taylor Peissner finished 12th in a field of 26 in the seeded 4x800 meter relay event. Later in the evening, Jena Pianin, Kelly Parson, Katie Girvan, and Paige Lommerin competed in the 4x1 mile relay, with Pianin running a very impressive opening leg in less than 5:20.
On Saturday, sophomore Nick Bayley finished an impressive 12th out of 25 competitors in the 400 meter race in a fast 49.51. Hakeem Dyson ran 40.20 in the 300 meter hurdles and finished third in his heat. Kelly Parsons (1200), Kourtnie Siccam (400), Maddie Quinn (800), and Jena Pianin (1600) competed for the Dons in the girls distance medley relay. Sam Aceret ran an impressive 9:36 in the 3200 meters against a powerful field. Scott Esparza finished an impressive 9th in the elite invitational shot put and also a fine 6th in the open discus throw.
