Livermore, California - Game one opened with the Dons’ Andrea Larson serving and a kill by Yael Sendler to put Amador on the scoreboard. Play was very evenly matched, with the two teams trading service. Some notable plays were Amber Wright’s front line hit for a kill and a nice save by Haley Traynor (though Amador eventually lost this point). At 4-6 (Livermore), Traynor’s dink got the kill and Alyssa Lubow took over service. Her powerful serving (with 2 aces) took the score to 9-6 (Dons). Livermore pulled ahead and at 10-13 a dig by Sara Cohen to a Larson set and Brianna Day spike brought the service back to Amador. Larson served an ace and the score moved to 12-13. Play again traded sides with a tremendous rally (but lost point) at 14-14. Day’s tip got the kill at 14-15, and Sara Cohen took over service with an ace and the Dons pulled the score to 18-15. Livermore fought back and both teams gained points back and forth. Finally, at 23-20, Larson took over the serve and delivered 3 unanswered points, with two aces to win the game 25-20.
The Cowboys came out fast in game 2, quickly putting the score at 13-2. Amador got one side out, but lost the serve, and Livermore kept marching forward. At 17-3 a huge rally ended with an Amador side out. Erica Norton took over service. Nadia Padilla sent down a powerful spike, and Haley Traynor followed with another spike for the kill. At 17-6, another big rally was ended with a great save by Larson to a spike by Padilla for the kill. Livermore pushed back, though and moved the score to 19-7. A tip by Larson for the kill brought the serve to Amador, but the Dons couldn’t put up any points. At 20-9, Traynor served a couple of points, with one ace, but again, the Cowboys got the side out. At 21-11, Wright made another spike-kill, and Larson started her service with an ace, moving the score to 21-13. The game moved to its conclusion with Livermore beating Amador 25-14.
Amador took the lead early in game three with two quick kills by Wright. At 1-3, Livermore got the side-out. Lubow did great work at the net and Day got the kill with a big hit at the net. Cohen served an ace to tie up the score 5-5. Livermore then lit up the scoreboard, earning 7 straight points. Amador finally gained the side out with a spike by Lubow, but quickly lost the serve to the Cowboys. At 13-7, Lubow served two aces for the Dons and brought the score to 13-9. Livermore lost their side out at 14-9 to a great Larson hit and Wright kill. Traynor took over the serve at 14-10, and a tip by Day moved the score to 14-11. The Dons moved one more point forward, but at 14-12, after a great rally, the Cowboys took the last point for the game and match. 15-12, Cowboys.
